The rafters are also mitered at the corners to allow scroll cut ends on all three sides. Construction in Cellular Vinyl permits the same detailing as wood.

Cellular Vinyl Pergola P-16: Building and adjacent structures need to be considered in the design of a pergola. The existing square columns were replicated, the rafters notched to reduce the height and they were anchored to the building under the roof line giving the appearance it was built during the original construction.
Wood Pergola P-17: Pergolas made with wood are also available. This simple design provides the perfect shade necessary for the entryway and will weather a light grey along with the cedar shingles while adding a focal distinction to the entrance.
ForeverVinyl™ Pergola P-18: Orientation of the carriers can vary. This ForeverVinyl™ overhead has carriers running out from the building. The columns have recessed panels, capitals and custom bases with “drip edge”, matching the trim of the building.
ForeverVinyl™ Pergola P-19: For the pergola to cover the entire outdoor kitchen area, the front columns were set on the patio, while the rear columns are shorter and are mounted on the stone wall.

The rafters follow the angles at the corners. This solution allowed the columns to be set adjacent to the edge of the patio.
Circular Pergola P-25: Extraordinary! This circular pergola is the ultimate focal point of this home’s courtyard garden. The round columns support the custom designed circular carriers for this construction. The pergola extends down the walkway from the circle.
